quite frequently when im trying to turn my computer off
via the start menu ..
1.. the procedure fails & windows will not close down
2.. when turning off at tower the system closes down but
after a period it will reboot
please advice

If the system shuts down completely and some time later boots up, your
system may be set to wakeup on LAN and that will boot the computer. There
is a setting in the BIOS to disable that function. You can get into the
BIOS by checking the information on the first boot screen which usually has
a message similar to "In order to enter setup" and then it gives you a key
to depress.
