Capturing Video

Tried SVideo, and got only picture - No Sound.

Have installed a Firewire card (as everybody says is best), and connected to
my JVC Digital Video Camera. Not sure if the Capture from video device should
be DTV-DVB 3054 analog video (thinking this is a standard device for
selection), but i cannot get any picture/sound from the video. Or is that the
Camera is not registering as a device (other 2 options is for Web Camera
which work).

Using a FireWire Card/Cable what would be the Video Input source?

S-Video is only video. It does not carry any audio.

You need to ensure the digital camcorder is set to VCR mode or whichever is
the correct mode when outputting a signal to an external device... read the
manual.

As to which Video Input.... what capturing/editing application are you
using?

OK, you have a capture input - S-Video is high resolution analog,
but it is only the video signal it carries, if you have an S-Video input
than you will have line-inputs to capture the audio signal, you must
make that connection also.......

That device is a Digital TV tuner (DVB-T or DVB-S), It is for capturing
digital TV transmissions, if it indeed lists "analog video" then it is a
"hybrid" and probably only indicates that an analog tuner also included.
Though there are black diamond and hauppauge PCI digital tuner cards
that do have analog capture inputs, but...............

Well this is an XP forum, so safe assumption you are running XP,
If you have correctly installed the firewire card, and there are the
two required entries in device manager to indicate it is correctly
installed, then XP natively supports and will automatically recognise
any firewire device connected.
Firewire devices are hot plugable, connect the DV cam
Power On, and select VCR or VTR option on the cam
XP should recognise that the cam is connected
and a dialog will appear with options.
You haven't mentioned what software you have installed
nor what you have tried.
Windows Movie maker will happily capture DV footage,
With DV cam connected and powred on, open WMM
Select: "capture from Video device" - your cam will
be listed, and you are up and running..................
