Stand by Icon problem...

He following issues are effecting my system:
=B7 The "Stan-by" icon in "Turn off computer" is=20
showing as faded and is not accessible=20
=B7 The Power button that used to shut XP down is non-
responsive
=B7 The "Hide Icons" symbol is chosen but not active=20
on the desk-top

Not sure if all are related but went down at the same=20
time. Can anyone help please? Thanks.
