crc error

Hey

What do I do when I get 'crc error' on a disk read?
I worked with computers long ago.. but xp looks a mystery to me.

Is there a utility that can recover files?

I object:
xp simply stops when copying a set of files from one directory(folder) to
another and reports a -meaningless- error message.
That is obnoxious behavior. From anyone.

I used to get useful diagnostics from the systems I used.

Frank, it sounds like you have corrupt files and are failing to copy
correctly. Go here www.google.com and type
File Recovery.
