Windows XP Home SP1 will hang and become unresponsive at
random. The display will remain but the mouse will not
respond, alt+ctrl+del does nothing. No error is ever
report in event viewer nor any blue screen. I have
noticed that the frequency of the hangs will increase if
I'm listening to an audio CD.
I have swapped ram, changed IRQ's on devices and changed
the IDE channel configuration for my hard drive and CD
player. I'm current with all my updates. I'm not running
any extra software like zonealarm or any Norton
utilities. It started pretty much out of the box. I
have a P4 2.4, 80gig HD, 512 ram the works.

Ben, do a System File Check. Start>Run type sfc /scannow Have
the WinXP Cd in the drive.
Also, do a spyware check. Go to www.google.com and type Spyware
Checker. Lastly run a diagnostic on your
Hard Drive. You can get one from the manufacturers site.
