Camcorder is not recognized anymore !

Dear all,

I've been using my Sony DCR-PC9 without any problems for the past few
years. However, recently my computer stopped detecting my camcorder! I
connect through a FireWire connection. I tested my camcorder and cable
on another computer running XP SP2 and it works perfectly fine.

My computer:
- Windows XP SP2
- FireWire card is detected by XP.
- All the latest updates from WindowsUpdate

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Test another cam on your pc, as it may be the port is faulty. Device manager
won't tell you if it is physically working ok.

I know this is an old message, but I have a literally identical problem with
a Sony DCR TRV310 camcorder: it used to be recognized on a fire wire port but
not any more. A fire wire scanner is working well from the same fire wire
adapter card. The camcorder is recognized on another XP Home PC. I purchased
a brand new cable, so it is not a cable problem.

Any suggestion would be appreciated!
