Event Viewer: Access is denied

I cannot view Application or the System selections
associated with the Event Viewer. The Security appears to
do nothing. This has happened on both my desktop and
notebook. I just reinstalled my entire notebook last week
and was using the event viewer frequently. For example, I
get a popup titled Event Viewer with message 'Unable to
complete the operation on "System". Access is denied'.

I have tried to Restore back to prior times with no change.

This concerns me, as I use the Viewer frequently and is a
definite 'change' to my computers not knowingly performed
by me!
