Shut down troubles.

I have been on vacation for the last 2 week and when I
got home the first thing I did was to update all the
virus and firewalls and MS update. But my system is now
not working right.
It is very slow at the start up and lags badly. Also now
will not shut down.

I have run the worm fix program just to make sure but no
change. Still slow and now my games are locking up and it
is not a fun time.

Does this mean I have to reformat or is there a fix?
