I'm running Windows XP Home with SP2. The system has been working fine for
years.
In the last few days I have experienced the following problem: When I use
Alt-Tab to cycle through my current set of windows, each window receives the
focus in its turn, as usual, but it does not come forward and overlap other
windows as I would expect it to do.
The same problem occurs when I have a group of restored (not full screen)
windows that overlap each other and I try to switch among them using mouse
clicks: the focus switches but the window does not come forward.
I can restore normal functioning by minimizing all windows and then
reopening them one by one.
The bad behavior returns from time to time, though I can't figure out what
situations might cause this.
Can anyone suggest what might be the cause of this behavior and how to fix
it? Thanks.
