I'm trying to upgrade the 3 computers in my office to XP Pro because we are
now moving from a peer-to-peer to a server environment. The first computer
upgraded perfectly. The next one bombed. There were about twenty or so
files that would not copy from the CD. I restarted in safe mode and copied
all of the missing files from the first computer.

Everything seems to works except networking. The second computer can
connect to all of the others, but they can not connect to it. Links to the
firewall on the Sharing Tab of properties for C:, do not appear. Also, if I
try to update Windows directly from Microsoft's web site, it bombs.

Should I attempt a reinstall of the upgrade? I have no idea shy the system
had problems copying from the CD. Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim

Problem resolved by Microsoft support. It appears there were some files
that were never copied from the upgrade CD. For anyone who may be
interested, this problem is fixed by inserting the CD and entering the
following command from a command prompt:

sfc /scannow

this checks that all files have been properly copied.
