I have muted all sound and turned off all system sounds, but a loud beep
continues to appear when clicking on certain things. For example, when I
have the sound window open, and I click on one of the sliders, it beeps very
loudly...despite all sounds being muted. How can I turn this off?

That's the "Default Beep"
Turn it off by :
Control Panel > Sounds and audio devices > Sounds tab > Default beep in the
list

Unfortunately, I already have that sound type as None. All sounds in that
list are at None.

Then the motherboard is complaining. You probably need to look up the
beep codes for that motherboard. Here's a search.. enter your mobo or
computer brand to narrow the search:

http://www.google.com/search?lnk=hpsg&q=beep%20codes&sa=N&tab=gw

If you are talking about IE7, I have the same problem. It's nothing to do
with the defaults. It's just when using IE7, whatever you do there, if
changing the web page, going back a page, opening an news article, there is
this sound every time. So if anyone knows why, I would love to hear about
it.

Thanks,
