View Full Version : Delayed Write Failure?

I lost some valuable Quicken data today when a Delayed Write Failure popped
up in WinXP Sp1 (fresh install this weekend).

I see certain knowledge base articles ...

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;330174

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;321733

.... now, I don't have the exact symptoms in the article (I have a C000020C
message, not a C000022C) but things seem related.

I am going to swap out my IDE cable to a new ATA133 certified cable tonight.
I am considering using the Maxtor ATA133 card that came with my drive but
would prefer not to. I already turned off the write ahead cache so we'll
see if that helps.

Does anyone have the HotFix or know why it's not public yet? Has anyone else
seen and put this problem behind them? Is this pervasive?

Scary, scary problem.
