After running Windows update (installing the latest
security update), my system cannot reboot, stopping at a
blue screen noting that "autochk cannot be found, skipping
AUTOCHECK." The system does boot in safe mode, but I can't
find a setting to remove the autochk from the startup.
Autochk is in WINDOWS/SYSTEM32 and does not appear to have
been altered during the upgrade. Running System Restore to
yesterday's (normal) startup point also runs into
the "autochk not found" msg.
Any help or advice welcomed.
Thanks.
