Add or Remove programs control panel

Why are there long empty spaces in the programs lsiting
within this control panel? for example, when scrolling
down the listing o of programs, ther are 2-3 large blocks
of nothing, then a few more programs, and then again,
nothing.

I would like to know: how to fix this interfce error, and
whether or not this is a a sympton of a larger issue?
