I am running XP Home SP2 with MSN Messenger 7.5.

Do I need XO Pro ?

Need to initiate Remote Assistance.

Should I upgrade to MSN Live ?

Greetings,

Nope, Home is fine. But you need Windows Messenger installed (just having MSN Messenger or
Windows Live Messenger is not good enough). You can find Windows Messenger here:

Keep in mind it just has to be installed, then you can use Remote Assistance in 7.5 as per
normal.

You could also take a look at VNC. It's slightly slower, but a lot more
dependable. If you take this route then do install the Mirage driver on the
controlled machine, it makes a big difference to performance.

The problem I find with Remote Assistance is its dependencies - if certain
services aren't installed and running (services which ostensibly have no
connection whatsoever with it!) then it just won't work.
