Installed software on users system, have installed many times without this
problem. Win XP Pro SP2, Office 2003. Most of Outlook Contacts/address book
is missing; settings in Word have reverted to default including loss of
signature block in Outlook; Quick Launch toolbar couldn't be created (ran
commend referenced in KB article to get it working again). AV is up to date,
spyware scans came up clean. Software installed is unified messaging product,
incorporates voice mail and inbound fax into Outlook. Deleted extend.dat as
part of install - could this be the problem? Haven't uninstalled software,
could try that. Would System Restore bring back old extend.dat, Word
settings, Outlook Contacts, or be a waste of time? Thanks....

Deleting extend.dat has no impact on the pst, if the pst has actually lost
contacts then something else is in play.
Search, to include hidden for *.pst, if any found open them in OL and
examine their data.
And perhaps contact the Addin vendor to see what they say
