Can anyone tell me how to create a boot disk for Windows XP

Format a floppy in GUI mode and copy NTLDR, ntdetect.com and boot.ini to it,
then you can boot the machine via floppy. If you need installation floppies
you can get those on the download site.

I have done a search on my computer and cannot find boot.ini. What folder is
it in?

In addition to what the others have said. The XP CD is bootable. If you need
"setup" floppies for XP you can get the set here.

It's in your root folder.

C:\boot.ini

boot.ini is a hidden system file. Open an Explorer window and go to
Tools->Folder Options->View Tab and select "Show hidden files and folders"
then click Apply. You will find boot.ini in your C drive
