View Full Version : Constant redialing on WinXP Pro

My wife's computer has gone into full autoredial mode. As soon as the
machine boots, it triggers the modem.
I have Zone Alarm and I removed all the programs listed under the
permissions, trying to see if one of these was the culprit. No joy.
Next I uninstalled possible culprits to see if that too would help. No joy.
Next, I went through the Windows help file to see if anything existed about
automatic dialing. No joy, because the scenario for autodial does not fit
her computer.
Next, I decided to post here, thinking there may be a simpler answer than
pulling my hair (by the way, I am getting a haircut today).
Any help welcome.
TIA

ZoneAlarm used to be a cause of this, I think it was fixed with M$
update. Try removing it for a test.

We have also done that. Also, we both have WinXP on our computers. My
computer does not autodial at all. Her's just started doing it.
Also, we ran Spybot S&D and found nothing untoward.

Do you use Callwave? It sometimes dials home. You might also check any of
your on programs if they are checking for updates at start up. This will
also cause the dialer to come on.
