We have XP Pro installed on several users workstations
and "should" all be configured the same and have the same
updates applied. One user is getting the following
message: System Standby Failed... The device driver for
the "Communications Port (COM2) device is preventing the
machine from entering standby. Please close all
applications and try again. What do I check to get rid
of this message on his desktop? You can OK out of it,
but after a few minutes of idle time, it is back. Our
drivers are all the same and again he is the only one
getting the message.

Any ideas?

This will get you started:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=device+is+preventing+the+machine+from+entering+s tandby&btnG=Google+Search

You can modify the search argument with info about your particular system
until you zero in on the problem.
