I've had the same response from certain applications, yet
I can "see" the file with WinExplorer -- the issue always
seems to be that XP (Pro, in my case) can deal with "huge"
filespecs, but many applications have shorter filespec
limits (i.e., c:\My this\My that\My gosh\(etc) filename).
My own feeling (at least in my case) is that if you
(unthinkingly) let the wizards do all of the importing of
files like photos from a digital camera, you seem to get
huge foldernames followed by filenames that = the
foldername + 001... or something like that. The solution
for me was to pay attention to the folder/file name lenght
as you let the wizards do their thing -- i.e., make them
SHORT... which you can do after the fact by just renaming
folders to shorter names.
I don't think this will necessarily fix your problem, but
may be related in some way... good luck.
