I downloaded and installed 15 updates to XP yesterday,
and now I have to select my user account on startup. I
managed to correct that months ago and now it looks like
there is no way to change it back. 1) What is the point
of forcing me to select the one and only account I have
set up, 2) Why does the interface have to change so much,
and 3) How can I change it back...or can't I?

Hi,
This could be because of the .NET Framework, installed as part of Windows
Update. This creates a new user id on your computer stopping automatic
logon. To enable 'auto logon':
1. Click Start/Run and type 'control userpasswords2' (without quotes)
2. Uncheck 'Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer'
3. Click OK and enter the user name and password used for auto logon (if no
password, leave password boxes empty)
From now on, you should be automatically logged on when WindowsXP starts up.
