View Full Version : WMV9 VCM Pacakage?

In VirtualDub, when I try to use the Microsoft Windows Media Video 9
codec, I get this message:
"You have not installed the complete Microsoft Windows Media Video 9
VCM package in your system. In order to use this codec effectively,
please download the complete package from
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/codecs/vcm.aspx
The package includes help documentation and sample parameter files."
But on that page, or on the various linked pages I've tried, I cannot
find the actual download. Can someone tell me the link for it please?
Also, I'm a bit confused here, as I already thought I had this
installed, from the file WM9Codecs.exe.
Any help would be much appreciated please. In particular, where can I
actually download this 'VCM Package?

Maybe the following will help:
Go to...Windows Media Download Center
http://tinyurl.com/9rz5l
At: Select Download...choose:
"Codecs Installation Packages"
At: Select Version...choose:
"For Windows Media Video 9 VCM"
Download Now button.

You can Google on wmv9VCMsetup.exe and you'll get several hits, one
being http://www.sm-art.hu/link/.

Thanks all, very helpful. My apologies for not acknowledging much
earlier.
Duly re-installed the Microsoft Windows Media Video 9 codec and
pleased to report VirtualDub stopped protesting.
