font problems in conversation window

Hi,

I have Windows Live Messenger 8.0 and I am having problems with the
font that is displayed in the conversation window. No matter what I set
my font preferences to the font in the conversation window shows up as
black Arial (default). Also the font of the people I am having the
conversation with shows up as the default arial text no matter what
font they are using. However, my font shows up correctly in the box
while I am typing and it shows up correctly on my contacts conversation
windows. I've have tried several times in uninstall and reinstall
messenger but this does not fix the problem. Any suggestions?

For those of you having similar problems ... mine was cause by Smiley
Central. I had recently downloaded this program (which didn't work) and
when I removed it my font returned to normal.

so does smiley central no longer work with MSN live? I am getting a message
regarding errors occurring on the script, was that the same kind of thing you
had?

I keep seeing all these suggestions to turn off or uninstall Messenger
Plus and other additional programs - but I don't see a solution for
people that don't have these third party apps installed.
Here's my case: I've got Windows Vista RTM (enterprise edition) and
Windows Live Messenger installed on that machine, no third party apps.
That said, the problem is that NO MATTER what font size I specify on my
settings (to be applied on my conversation window) it always comes up
to 10 pt font. I'm not sure why. As far as I know this is only
happening on Windows Vista. I have WLM installed on Windows XP and it
works just fine. When I set my font type to be Tahoma in 8pt font...
it stays that way.... whether I open a new window or not. That's not
the case with my current situation in Vista. Highly aggravating.

And yes, I did send mail to the product group - didn't hear anything
back from them as far as whether they're even aware that this is a
problem.
