I have a HP Pavillion 6701(2001). and am tryingto copy a
Windows BMP image of 11.3MB to a new Aterra Media CD-R
80min/700MB which is labelled as CD Recordable.
I appear to correctly follow the proceedures to copy but
the prompt always comes up as "install cd into drive M".
I have done this several times, including installing the
CD in advance but the reply is always the same.
Question- does my PC allow cd writing.
How can I check if it does.
Any help would be appreciated.
Kind regards,
Richard

The CDROM drive included when you purchased your computer is not a
cd-writer, it can only read cd-roms.
For the product specifications of your Pavilion 6701 computer, visit:
http://h20015.www2.hp.com/en/document.jhtml?reg=&cc=us&lc=en&prodId=hppavili

You can try searching google or www.cnet.com for deals on where you can
purchase cd-writers. At the moment they are down to about NZ$150 or
US$80-100 and getting cheaper.

Also to my other reply, I should mention that if you believe that you have
purchased a cd-writer for your computer since purchasing, it should have a
cd-r, cd-rw or a 3 speed reading like 8x24x48x with 3 x's on the front of
the disk tray/ door of the drive.
