Roger;
Many things can cause loss of Restore Points, when they are gone, they
are gone and can not be recovered or used.
Some of the things are:
Available space on hard drive
Computer usage
Space you dedicate to System Restore

If you use Real Player, try doing without it for a few days:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=812119
And others.

See this link for more about System Restore:

Jupiter: I also am having the same problem, but none of
those reasons listed seem to apply to my computer - I
have plenty of space, etc. The page you directed us to -
http://microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?
url=/technet/itcommunity/Newsgroups/FAQSRWXP.asp - has
been deleted (removed) from the site. Any other pages we
can look at to learn about this and to avoid future
problems.
