every time i try to d/frag my drive i get to about 3% and
my comp rboots . any help welcome

The only thing that can cause Windows to "crash" and reboot is a hardware
issue or a faulty driver. I would suggest booting to Safe Mode and trying
to defrag from there.

It would also help to know the STOP code and the driver that Windows is
saying was the cause of the crash.
