View Full Version : Unable to read CD

I burned a CD on a Windows 98 PC and checked that I could
read it and open the powerpoint file.
However, when I tried to open it on a Windows XP PC, I
found that I could see the files in the CD (Explorer) but
I was not able to open any of the files.
Can someone help please?
Thank you

Is Powerpoint installed on the XP PC. PowerPoint is a module of MS-Office
and is not a part of XP. If you don't have Office installed or just the
PowerPoint module of Office, you can't open the file though there are
viewers available that should allow you to open PowerPoint files:

If you expected Windows XP to come with PowerPoint, sorry to tell
you that neither Windows XP, nor any other version of Windows,
has ever come with PowerPoint, or any other application software.
If your previous computer running an older version of Windows
came with PowerPoint, it wasn't that it came with Windows, it was
that your vendor chose to bundle PowerPoint (or Microsoft Office)
as part of the package he sold you.
If you want PowerPoint, you need to buy a copy of it (or
Microsoft Office, which includes it).

Did you try moving the file to your hard drive and then seeing if you could
open it? Also, what error message if any are you seeing?
