Yesterday I started having problems with Internet Explorer.
I would try to open it, it would begin to connect to the
home site, but then would say "not responding". I'd get a
pop-up tellimg me "internet explorer is not responding,
blah blah...". So I thought it was a problem with IE. But
then today, the same problem happened with AOL Instant
Messenger. I have not been able to open IE since the
problem started, but AIM has been working fine except for a
few cases where it gave me the same error. I called the
technology help desk here at school and they told me to
download all of Microsoft's updates and install them, which
I did, afterwhich I shut down the computer and re-started
it. Nothing changed, same problem. The I downloaded IE from
Microsoft and opened that one, same problem. So I'm
assuming it's a problem with Windows or a virus (but,
Norton hasnt detected any, anywhere)...but I have no idea
what I'm doing or whats going on and no one else seems to
know either. Please help.

Poorly written spyware sometimes interferes with Internet Explorer.

Go to http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ and download the free Ad-aware detection
and removal utility software to scan your system for known adware and
spyware.
