How can I play a standard off the shelf movie ? When I open movie player that
option is not available. I have all the latest drivers and compatability
checks ok.
Is there a cinema program that I need?

You need a DVD Decoder
like Power DVD or WinDVD.

"Movie player" as in WMP....If the later is true,WMP can play the move (DVD)
however it needs software to convert it.Basically its all about
$$$$$....You can
get 3rd party software from WM home page,or try downloads.com
ATI offers free dvd software with thier cards,upgrade youre video card...

I have the latest nVidia decoder+ PNY nVidia 512mb videocard+nVidia chipset MOB
I wii try MS Picture It

MS Picture It! is a great image editor, but it won't play a movie.
