within the last week websites i visit every day are loading slower than
normal.not taking minutes, but definately slower.1yr old pc
DSL,2.40gh,512ram,4cpu,winxp2,mcafee virus scan,lavasoft ad-aware,and other
free spyware scanners run once in a while.even ran a rookit cleaner-found
nothing.
i delete temp/cookie files everyday many times.ran disk cleanup:files to
delete-366,960k temp files(not temp int. files) this is my girlfriends
pc(mine is boxed up for now) so i cant delete just anything or make
changes.her outlook express has 680 msgs. dating from 9/2005.would deleting
some of these help? might switch from IE 6 to IE 7. if we do, would all the
sites in the history & address bar get deleted in the switch? i've read
mozilla is safer/better than IE but its not my pc and neither one of us is pc
savy, more like novice users.not familiar with hosts files, reg edits and all
that serious stuff.i read things here and there and make little tweaks, and
would checking/unchecking boxes in int security zone make a difference in
slow loading website pages? cpu usage appears to be fine, pc starts and shuts
off with no problems. we use zonelabs free firewall-windows firewall is
turned off. windows defender was a joke, got rid of it. THANK YOU FOR YOUR
TIME AND ANY HELP IS MUCH APPRECIATED!

thanx for your time and help!

thanx for your help andrew.i havent had a chance to try the hotfix yet.it
seems like it's kinda complicated, maybe alittle over my head.since its not
my pc i might mess it up and not be able to get back the way it was. i wish
there was some simple way to resove the slower downloading pages on all
sites, even in hotmail.it used to take just a second to load a page, now its
more like 5 to 8 seconds. i'm assuming the more files built up on a pc, its
naturally going to slowdown.i might restore it to a 7-10 days ago and see if
that speeds it up.
