i would really appreciate help in this problem, as i've tried about
everything i can think of. i am having a critical system error that
sometimes occurs randomly, and sometimes occurs when i run certain programs.
it mostly happens as certain programs start.

the screen turns black and a blue box appears on the screen that says "NO
SYNC"
the computer will then either go completely black and freeze or reboot itself.
on the times when it reboots, i've tried using the submit error to microsoft
utility, where it informed me the blue box message means there has been a
device error that can only be fixed by a computer reboot. i found a tool
online that checks my devices and determines which need updated drivers.
the results were my CMI8738/C3DX PCI Audio Device, Wireless-G PCI Adapter,
and Intel 82801AA Bus Master IDE Controller. i found drivers for the sound
card and network card, but could not find one for the controller. the
drivers i found did not solve my problem

i have a roughly 3 year old dell dimension 2200 with a celeron processor
running windows xp home edition. any help whatsoever would be very
appreciated. if more information is needed, please ask. feel free to email
me at
