when checking my local hard drives i have noticed that they are showing read
only on each sub folder off the root directory.
my windows installations seem to be working properly.
what might cause this issue (if it is an issue)
i have tried to uncheck the read only attribute but when i recheck the
folders they still say read only.
what should i do to fix this?
does this need to be fixed?
this is happening with both internal hard drives and usb external drives.

Hi,

This is the default setting for Windows XP. Nothing to worry about.

This is the method Windows uses to designate a folder with a
customized view. For more information, see:

"You Cannot View or Change the Read-Only or System Attribute of Folders"
