disk cleanup not working hangs

anyone have an idea how to recover disk cleanup without
full xp instal? Disk cleanup hangs and won't "end
process" when asked to.

Save on Desktop.
Double click the icon once downloaded.
The icon can then be discarded.

Try the following web sites for troubleshooting suggestions:

Visit http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and scroll
down to Line #48. In the right-hand window, click on
"Disk Cleanup - Compress Old Files Freezes"

Simply click on Kelly's fix, download the registry fix, then run it.
(Note: Disable your antivirus program before running the repair script)

I had this problem, called out the co. i bought the
computer from and they had to replace the hdd!
