I can't print to my HP DeskJet 722C from any applications (or a command
prompt) other than Internet Explorer 6.0 and Microsoft Outlook in Windows XP.
I've tried uninstalling and resinstalling the printer, installing all Windows
XP updates, and uninstalling and reinstalling applications (these include
Word, Excel, Access, Adobe InDesign, Quark Xpress, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe
Acrobat, Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Photoshop).

Can anybody help?

What happens when you try? Is there an error message? Are you sure
that printer is selected in the printer selection pane?

I have an HP DeskJet 712C which prints from all applications just fine. I
did not use the installation CD that came with the printer but am using the
drivers that came with XPPro. Did you install the your printer using the
CD? Perhaps it doesn't make any difference, but you might give it a go.

The printer spits out a blank page. I can print a test page, and from Outlook
and the IE6, so I know that the computer and printer are talking to each
other. This happened seemingly overnight - the last time I printed was in
September, with no problem. Now I want to print, and can't. We had some
pretty severe lightning storms over the last few weeks, but I don't think
that would have done anything (???)

Sorry, no other ideas, but you can scroll through a thousand posts on
similar printer problems at this link:

http://groups.google.com/groups/search?q=only+prints+blank+page+xp&qt_s=Search

You could narrow the search by adding HP to the search pane, but you
might miss

How many copies of the printer are loaded. For example, IE and
Outlook could have selected a good copy whereas other applications are
selecting another defective copy. Start by collecting facts long
before fixing anything. What are all the printers listed in Print
Manager? What printers are loaded in Device Manager? What does the
system (event) log report? Use Windows Help if you don't know where
these useful analysis tools are located.
