Help,
I have two windows opening to "My Documents" folder opening every time I log
in. I accidently logged out the other day with two windows open where I had
been transfering some files from one folder to the other and now I can't stop
this from happening.
Thanks in advance

The "My Documents" folder automatically opens every time that you log on to
a Windows XP Service Pack 2-based computer:

Close all Windows Explorer windows and then reboot.

Also, uncheck under Tools | Folder Options | View tab ... Restore previous
folder windows at logon.

That didn't help. There was no "Userinit" to click on after going to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon.
There Was a "PersistBrowsers" after going to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER|Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curen tVersion\Explorer\Advanced,
but the value there was already a 0.
Any other things I could try?

Here is the direct link :
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/userinit.reg (Only try this if you have
Windows and my documents on C drive)

But back up registry before doing that or don't do that because i see that your reply
to Ramesh said that there is no Userinit.

Method 3:
Click Start > Run > Type msconfig >Press Enter > Go to Startup tab > See if there is
something like my documents listed

Interesting!
"Userinit" is an important item without which the user cannot login.

Thanks to everyone for their help. I finally got rid of the extra auto
opening windows by restoring the machine to an earlier date. It still puzzles
me though as to why it kept happening.
Thanks again.

I have a related problem. While reinstalling software, I somehow added a
window (C:\Program Files\Norton) to my login. I tried msconfig and regedit
suggestions in this post to remove the window. I also turned off system
restore on all drives (Is it necessary for this to work?), but when I restart
and login, the window still pops open. Any suggestions other than switching
to McAfee,etc?
