VIDEO CARD QUESTION

I have an ATI X700 video card which is connected with
an ASUS P5GD1 MB. I'm running XP Pro and I have been
getting system event messages that say the video card
was not communicating or responding to windows commands.
This will happen during games, google earth or just
browsing. Does this indicate the video card is bad?
The PC is home built and otherwise runs fine. These
events seem to to be intermittent and short term and
don't seem to be heat related. Any help will be appreciated.

Are the latest ATI drivers installed?

Is DirectX 9.0c installed?

What does ATI tech support have to say?
