I'm trying to defrag my C:, but every time I start the defragmenter I get the
"Disk Defragmenter NTFS Module has encountered a serious problem and needs to
close..." business. It completes the analysis with no issues, but that's all
I can get out of it. I'm running XP Home and this is my only hard disk. Any
suggestions?

You should use Disk CleanUp regularly to Empty your Recycle Bin and
Remove Temporary Internet Files (in all User Profiles ). Then run chkdsk
before trying Disk Defragmenter again in Safe Mode.

Hope this helps.
