no soundwaves

i have all my sound for windows xp but when i go on messenger i have no
noification sounds and windows media player has picture but no sound. If
anyone can help i would be so grateful as i been working on it all day with
troubleshooting with no results

Greetings Terri,

If the problem just occurred, just system restore to try and fix it. To do so, click Start,
then Help & Support, then "Undo changes to my computer using System Restore" and go through
the wizard to choose a date before this stopped working.
