messenger logging me out

messenger logs me out after a brief period of inactivity. is there any way
to adjust the settings to prevent this? it is very frustrating.

Greetings David,

Which version of Messenger are you using? This could be the result of a few things, although
notably some routers which old firmware are one cause.

If you're using Windows Messenger, you might consider upgrading to Windows Live Messenger as
the protocol has been enhanced to specifically fix this problem:

I am in the middle of chatting with some one and if there is a minute or two
of inactivity, I suddenly appear signed out to the other party. I have to
sign out & sign back in to continue.

I have tried many, many steps to resolve this to no avail. So far MSN
Messenger help has been unable to resolve for me either.
