I keep a daily record of crossovers at work , these are sent to me from an
outside vendor. I went to my C drive to clean these up. First I moved a years
worth of crossovers to a New Folder to consolidate them. This transaction
occured but it also created all new files renaming them example" copy (2) of
XXXXXXXXXX.snp.zip" . So I go and try to delete these and it just keeps
creating more. Any suggestions?

Thanks

The reason this is happening is a combination: XP's sensitivity and your
handling of the mouse. If you unintentionally drop the files too soon -
copies are created.

Either go slower and steadier with the mouse or use a combo of mouse
clicks, keyboard commands and/or buttons in the toolbar.

Personally, I like to add the "Move To" and "Copy To" buttons to Explorer's
standard toolbar. After selecting files, I click the appropriate button and
then use the dialog screen that appears to complete the transaction. For
deleting files, I use the Delete key on the keyboard but a Delete button
can be added to the standard toolbar too.

To customize the toolbar, right click on it and choose Customize. Select a
button and click Add. You can use the Move button here to position the new
button on the toolbar to your liking.
