I have several items in my add/remove programs that say
ms hotfix. can I remove these?? I'm having problems
downloading the security updates for microsoft and it's
saying I don't have enough space but I don't understand
it because I should have plenty...my computer is fairly
new and rarely used.....I was wondering if those hot fix
things take up a lot of room (doesn't give the space
taken) and if I can remove them?

I'm not too computer savey so.....

any help or advice would be appreciated!

First, you should not remove any "hotfixes". They are the
updates downloaded and installed from the Windows Update
website.

Secondly, perform a "tune-up":

1. Perform a DISK CLEANUP:
(Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup)

2. Go to Start > Run and type: CMD , and hit enter. In the Command
Prompt window type: CHKDSK /F , and hit enter, answer "yes" and
reboot your computer.

3. Afterward, perform a DEFRAG of your hard drive.

Afterward, revisit the Windows Update web site.
