I am using a program that utilises ffmpeg.exe it was running fine but just
recently I get a pop up stating that "ffmpeg.exe has encountered an error and
needs to close" in the running log on screen there is a recurring readout
"[mpeg2video@0080A608]get_buffer<>failed<stride changed> error while decoding
stream #0.0" has anyone encountered this problem? does anyone have an idea
how to fix it? absolute nuisance because the rest of the program is rendered
useless.

Does it happen with all mpeg streams or only one?

Go back and try to convert a .VOB that converted
OK in the past and see if it still does.

If it does, you've probably encountered yet another variation
of the on-purpose "corrupt" .VOB's put out on commercial
DVD's in order to prevent just what you're trying to do.

Ask your question again over at doom9.org forums if you still
can't get it to work.

if I use VOB2Mpeg it will process the resulting mpeg file but it will not
play in a DVD player only an the computer

Thank you all for your help. What I finished up doing was to download a
freebie program called VOB2MPG this will make the original VOB files into one
MPG file that I can use to convert to a different bit rate so that I can fit
2 complete tapes onto one DVD.
