View Full Version : Remote Access Connection Manager simply won't start up.

Hello.

I'm having a few problem with connecting to the internet
and creating network connections. After reading several
webpages I came to the conclusion that it was because of
RasMan, and I was correct. Unfortunately, knowing is
only half the battle...

You see, whenever I try to start this service up, it
gives me the following error:

**************
Services:

Could not start Remote Access Connection Manager on Local
Computer.

Error 126: The specified module could not be found.

**************

I have searched MS Knowledge base, did all of my updates
(This happened both before AND after all critical
updates), and yet I still cannot find out how to fix this
problem. The only thing I found that remotely resembled
my situation was on Microsofts Knowledge base when it
told me to delete entries 25 and 26 under RasMan\PPP\EAP
in the registry, and to make sure that in the RasMan
entry, ObjectName value = Local System. I deleted the
entries (the objectname was already set to local system),
and yet still RasMan won't start.

Could this be file corruption? If so, is there a way to
fix it BESIDES reinstalling Windows. Any help would be
greatly appreciated. The system is a laptop using a dial
up connection. If there is any way AROUND this problem,
as well, I'm all ears.

Thanks.
