On opening Device Manager/Show Hidden Devices there remains a previously
removed *and* uninstalled MS keyboard device.

I'd tried on more than a few occasions to remove this icon, re-booting with
every prompt furnished. It's still there.

What else might I do to have this troublesome icon finally removed?

Charlie

Do you have a joystick connected to the system? My sidewinder joystick lists a keyboard device
because the buttons are programmable.

No joystick here, but the issue of the phantom keyboard persists.

thanks anyway, David.

Did you ever have a version of Intellitype drivers (any) installed onto your
PC before? If yes, then you should look in Add/Remove Programs and
remove/uninstall these from there.

Already done, Yves.

I'd un-installed both previous Intellitype drivers from Add/Remove, then
installed version 5.5 from the disc.

When originally hooking up the new(er) 3000 keyboard and Optical Mouse 2.0
I'd kept the existing Intellitype applications, as they appeared to be the
same version.

On checking just now in Device Manager/Hidden devices, the PS2 Comfort
Keyboard is still being listed.
