Only if you do a clean install and format the hard disk - but do a
backup anyway just to be on the safe side....;-)

It's your choice. Assuming that you have a retail copy, yYou have
three choices of how to load it:
1. A clean installation.
2. An upgrade over the top of your existing operating system
(assuming it's a qualifying version)
3. As a dual-boot with your existing operating.
Only with the first choice will you lose everything.
However, even with choices two and three, it's prudent to
recognize that something might go wrong and to be sure you have a
backup of anything you can't afford to lose.
