You need to uninstall windows messenger. You go into
add/remove programs in your system folder. I'm not sure
if it is right there or you have to use the "remove
windows component" icon on the left.

You don't uninstall windows messenger to cure THIS problem.
You disable messenger service not windows messenger if i remember corectly.
