Uploading DVD

I find myself in a hornets' nest in the video world. Maybe someone has
some advise other then get out of it.
I am an actor. I have a three minute VCR reel that I want to upload to my
agent on the internet. Here are the details:

I have Windows Xp computer with drives D and E

I have (purchased) a SONY RDR-VX530 Video Cassette Recorder / DVD Recorder
and made recordings from my VCR reel to to a DVD -RW and a DVD+RW. The
Sony recorder allowed me to use either "VIDEO" or "VR" formats. I tried them
both. I have no problem playing the DVD's at home on two different
players.

Here is the problem:
When I tried to upload the video to my Agency on the internet, it did not
work, so I mailed them a copy and got the following response:

"Unfortunately, the video clips you tried to upload were done directly from a
DVD, and what you actually need to do to get them to work is to convert the
file found on the DVD into an Mpeg-1 or Mpeg-2 format using a photo editing
software, either at your home or by contacting the company from which you
received the DVD."

Well I downloaded the AML Power Video Converter and converted the DVDs to
MPEG-1, MPEG-2 etc but nothing seems to work. Now I cannot even play them
on the computer. The subject of plug-in converters pops up with the Microsoft
Window player. Do I need to download a plug-in converters? Which one? Will
they now become part of my computer and also part of the DVDs?? Will this
allow me to upload on the internet? It get more and more confusing.
Can you help?

No doubt...video is a virtual hornets'
nest.

If your goal is to upload the file to
a site on the net...you don't need
a DVD.

Have a look at the following articles
for some ideas on importing directly
from the VCR to your computer.

To upload my three minute video to the agents site, I have to brouse my
computer from his site. Find my DVD and upload it. This part is simple but
he does not like my DVD format. That is where I get stuck when I tried to
convert. Are you saying I should import the VCR video as an VCR video from
my VCR player onto my computer first? But then I still have to uploade it to
his specifications.
Am I missing something. I still have to give him something he will accept .

Forget about the DVD...import the
video directly from the VCR to your
hard drive as explained in the articles
I posted for you.

Then upload the resulting .wmv file.

If you must use the DVD files...convert
them as explained in the followng article:

The original Recorder format was "VIDEO or VR" I tried them both. I did
convert using AML Power Video Converter downloaded from the internet. Now
when playing, with the Microsoft Video Player, the picture is black while
the player is running. A pop-up tells me that I need a conversion plugin(?)
Do I(?)
Trying to solve one problem introduces two. It is chain reaction of problem.

This seems to apply.

WHY SIMLICATE WHEN YOU CAN COMPLIFY.

If you give up on this, I do not blame you.

Ok, apparently you prefer to continue down
the DVD road.

Instead of trying to deal with your previously
converted files which are apparently useless...
try again using the info I provided.
