Not sure if this group is correct for my question, have
XP and bought a scanner, copier, fax & printer, trying
to scan pictures to email, asking me for smtp server,
domain names, etc. Don't know any of these or how to
find out what they are, can anyone help or direct me to
help. Thanks so much, Linda in Ma.

The program you are using wants to know how to connect to your ISP's email
system so it can send the email. To do this, it connects to whats called a
smtp server. (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol)
This server has an address that the scanning software wants to know so it
can make a connection.

If you use outlook express or a program on your computer to check your email
which usually has the address

Your ISP has the smtp server at their office and will be able to give you
the information for setting up the software if you ring their help line or
search through any help facilities for some of the information.

If you use hotmail for your emails or a web based service through Internet
Explorer or by going to a website like www.hotmail.com or yahoo.com, then
you may have problems. Still, talk to your ISP and see if they offer an
email service.
