Here is the story:
Yesterday, windows told me (a message in the lower-left corner) that my
rpcrt4.dll file is corrupted and it's suggested to run chkdsk. First I wanted
to run defragmentation, but it told me that chkdsk is schleuded, so i've
restarted my laptop, and chkdsk REMOVED my corrupted rpcrt4.dll . So
everytime i've started windows, the blue screen appeared with the text:
"Error - c0000135 The application failed to start up because rpcrt4.dll was
not found".
By using Windows XP Installation disc and it's repair feature, i've copied
the file from the CD. From now on my Windows starts almost normally, except:
-it's taking long,
-a lot of the previously installed programs don't work, for example Windows
Defender crashes up on startup, Defragmentation says it cannot connect to the
defragmentation utility, sound drivers don't work, windows installer also,
and so on.
Okay, so my question is, do any of You know what's in that file? Can I
repair it somehow without backupping my HD and reinstalling? Does my Windows
only lacks registry entries, and if so can is there a way to restore them
manually?
