View Full Version : Can not establish connection with USB scanner

November 16th 06, 04:43 PM
I have just installed a scanner on my laptop but when I try to use it,
I get the message:

Can not establish connection with USB scanner,
please run the appropriate Utility or Configuation program.

The WindowXP Home system was able to determine that I had plugged in
the USB scanner and when I plugged it into another system that runs
Windows98, it worked perfectly so the USB cable is not malfunctioning.
Any ideas as to why this message is coming up?

The first question is "How did you install it?" Did you just plug it in,
or did you use the setup instructions from the manufacturer? If the
former, open device manager and remove any reference to it, Unplug it,
reboot, and use the manufacturers installation instructions step by step.

Do you also have an All in One printer connected?

Did you install the scanner manufacturer's software before connecting the
scanner to the PC?
